gift ideas

While I have been looking at items for various swaps that I am participating in this year, I have run across a few items that I wouldn't mind having myself. I thought I would share some items with you all incase they inspire you for gifting others in this advent season.

First up is this ring. Now, I am not really much of a jewelry girl. If I walk out the door with some jewelry on, it's usually for a special occasion or because the mood struck me just right. However, I like these rings in that they can be personalized. One with my name, or love or some other special word would just be fantastic. Plus, most of the rings that I find online are not available in my size thanks to my large, 9.5 size ring finger. This simple ring is--yay! Available at Monkeys Always Look on Etsy.
Then there's this cute little hat! I'm a sucker for things with ears on them and this is great. Hehe. I think I'd like it in a color other than beige-brown, but it is otherwise adorable. Available at The Seam Designs at Etsy.
Found this new, vegan nail polish brand, rainbow honey. I found them through my subscription to the Beauty Box at Vegan Cuts (also a great gift idea, folks!) and immediately loved them. I would love any of their nail polish colors, honestly. They are free of the Big 3: formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate and not tested on animals. Perfect!

Marimo! I have been fascinated by these things since I first saw them. I love unique containers and plants and this combines them into one fascinating sea plant! They survive on tap water and since they actually live in water, I cannot kill it by watering it too much (believe me, I've done this)! A few shops sell them on Etsy, but I found this one at PinkSerissa.

Glass terrariums! I love the clean lines and geometric shape of this particular terrarium. As someone who is pretty adept at killing houseplants, I like air plants because they're typically pretty hard to kill (unless left in the cold). This terrarium is available at Jechory Glass Designs on Etsy.

Those are the ones that I wanted to share for now. Have you run across anything really great that you're tempted to keep for yourself this season?

A few of my favorite items from Etsy this week:

from minusOne

from sealmaiden
from SoulRole
There is just something about these three items that makes me want to snuggle up in them and read books. Earlier this week I had three moles removed via the shave method. It was fine at the time. Then later I became nauseous. Then today when Ryan helped change the bandaids, I felt nauseous at that time as well and had to lay down for a while. I'm really hoping this doesn't last throughout the whole healing process. Three weeks of this will get old.

Seven Blooms
I have been looking for more professional-ish dresses in the past couple weeks. This is one of the ones I found and I am in love with it. At $120, it's not something that I can purchase lightly, but is definitely a goal to work towards.

ZenThreads
Once again, I have put up another ZenThreads item. I'm going to need new sweatpants soon and these look like the perfect option for me. I love the white tree stenciled on it as well.

2 chicks & a fancy owl
I've had a hard time letting go of the Christmas season this year. We finally took our tree down this weekend and I was tempted to leave it up another week. I saw these on Etsy and even though I knew they were gnomes, they still reminded me of Santa Claus and I favorited them right away.

bluemarblebeads
Red is one of my favorite colors and (thankfully) due to the Valentine season, it is quite prevalent. These beads look fabulous; I love the texture!

LindenAvenueDesigns
Another red bead...I can imagine making a necklace with these.

2 chicks & a fancy owl
Owls are one of my favorite animals. I like the simplicity of the white color with the more complex design.

*hangs head* Well, I haven't kept up with my New Year's goal for this week. However, it's been an extra busy week for me at the day job, plus some birthday celebrating for me. I'm back today with a few more favorites than usual.

NowVintage
I have a thing for the industrial. This fulfills that thing. When I have a house some day, I can just imagine setting up a little industrial room with these on a few choice lightbulbs.

Dellamorteco
These octopus candlesticks are also perfect for adding to the home if you want a touch of the sea or a bit of non-traditional decor. Personally I would put these in my bathroom to go with my sea theme.

odelae
Continuing with the sea theme, I happened upon this amazing notebook stitched through shells. What a great idea! I would have never thought of that.

Wander Sketch
I have been looking for some items to celebrate Valentine's Day and happened upon this mug. I'm a fan of mugs that have designs that run inside. They can even add a whole or broken heart to the design for whichever mood you're in.

Mud Puppy
I love all of the items made by Mud Puppy. I chose to show this one today because it is rather unique, with the crying baby face and the tangle of "hair" coming out the top.

TimberGreenWoods
Wooden heart confetti. Awesome.

That completes today's installment of Fave Finds. More to come later this week.

I'm so proud of myself that I could write three editions of Fave Finds this week! I have met one of my goals for this week. Okay, onto the items. I noticed that today's finds were all home related.

AngelaIngram
I love this mug with a side car. How cool is this mug? I never know where to place my teabag and now I do!

Silvia66
I love chunky yarn and I love scarves. Put the two together and I'm in even more love. It looks fairly simple and something that I could probably make myself, but I love the look!

MargotBianca
Another love of mine are napkins. I'm picky with napkins but lately I've found a lot of them that I like. These four are amongst them.

seaandasters
I am not gifted with a green thumb but I love the color and warmth that plants can bring to the home. I have been thinking about getting some airplants (which sound very low maintenance) and one of the best parts is you can put them in pretty much anything to display them. Take these suspended globes, for instance. There they are, swinging in the breeze and being fed at the same time. Wonderful.

Here is the second edition of Fave Finds this week.

ZenThreads

I've started to favorite Zen Threads items on Etsy for the past few items. I love their graphics and knowing their items are sweatshop free make me feel even better about purchasing their items. I'm a sucker for t-shirts and sweatshirts, so I will probably be posting a lot of these in the coming weeks.

Paper Face Studio

This brass vintage locket is a great necklace! I love that it has room to put a personalized message inside of it. This gives me ideas for Valentine's Day. Hmmmm...

StitchAndGrain
I know that these are easy and you can wander into the woods and get your own, but I still love the simplicity of small slices of wood.

happykathy
I. love. this. wallet. Great pattern. Great colors.

In my first post of the year, one of the goals I listed was to post about some of my favorite items that I found on Etsy that day. Here is the first installment.

less is more
A friend of mine had posted these pants on another friend's wall on Facebook. I thought, how great are these? I love the double waistband look with the large buttons. I have a pair similar to this and they are so comfy.

Ruby Red Design Studio
For a long time, I carried a large year planner with me. I faithfully wrote in it nearly every day, keeping track of my activities. As my dresser drawer began to fill with calendars of years past and I moved multiple times, I became more reliant upon my electronic calendar rather than a physical copy. However, this simple, typographic calendar caught my eye as something that would be nice home or office decor and help me keep track of the date without being tethered to my computer.

domestic charm
I don't know what it is about baker's twine that makes me want to whip up cupcakes and caramels by the dozen. It's a good staple for any crafty person, used to wrap up gifts or use for tiny bunting.

Recycled Relics
Someday when I own a house, I would like to put these up in the kitchen or bathroom, ceiling or wall. A coat of paint and they would definitely be an attractive interest in the house.

That's it for my first finds of the week. I will post again later this week.
