halloween display

 Have I mentioned yet how autumn is my favorite time of year? No? Well, it is. Now that I've been in a new place after 2.5 years, I have had new inspiration on what to do for decor. This is my main Halloween decor this year. It's a combination of DIY, vintage gifted cats, farmer's market sunflowers and gourds as well as skull tealight holders from Marshalls.
Since I painted the top of this table with chalkboard paint, I drew on it with a chalkboard paint pen. I cannot wait to use it each season/holiday! It's so much fun to draw/write things and wipe them away to start again.

And suddenly it's fall out there. 40s at night. The leaves change color on my way to work. Everything pumpkin is out for crafts and edible delicacies. I can wear sweatshirts, sweaters and jackets again--I'm loving it. Last weekend I enjoyed some time at the local farmer's market and bought these beautiful sunflowers. They have lasted so much longer than any other ones that I have bought--even Trader Joe's--and I couldn't be more delighted.

I'm looking forward to sharing much more with you all...about the summer and fall activities. I have a whole list of posts! See? Oh wait, you can't see them...just trust me that there is a list of ones that I will be writing from, which has nearly never happened for me.

I'm still settling into my home. This week I added a textured rug in the living room. I love the feel of it beneath my feet. As the temperature gets colder, I know I'll appreciate the warmth of this rug while I have my coffee. Tater loves it too. She laid on it as soon as I took it out of the packaging...which was a problem since I had not set it up yet! Once I have some daylight, I will show you Tate's love of the new rug.
 Along with the change in weather comes one of my favorite holidays--Halloween! I made this for one of my walls based on a pin I saw about a Christmas craft.  I like the simple and clean design. I have been adding other items around my home as well.

autumnal weekend fun

On Friday, I was only able to make it half of the day at work before I couldn't walk anymore and had to lay with my feet elevated due to an allergic reaction. I anticipated the whole weekend to be that way, but thankfully I was wrong.
 When I could finally move again, I tried my luck at some grocery shopping. On my way around, I spotted a stand on the side of the road with pumpkins. I had refused to buy one from a grocery store this year, so I was thrilled to find this stand. Look at these gigantic pumpkins!
 When I got home from grocery shopping, I still felt pretty good so I took Tater on a walk around town. We went into one of our favorite antique/consignment shops (Tater's favorite because she gets treats and mine because of the items). How cute is this collection of owls? I wish I hadn't already bought two on Etsy! And that glass on the side...I haven't seen one like that!

 I found a jewelry holder on my travels this weekend. There were a few variations with different birds and stand bases but I liked the look of the owls (noticing a theme here) on this one. I had a bowl-shaped one previously and the necklaces would get tangled together.
 I started setting up the decorations my uncle bought me. I love this cat.
 I took Tater for a walk today on a trail. Fall is definitely here. We had hoped to go to a doggy halloween party, but it was rescheduled due to the rain.

I started a new project this weekend. I have been thinking about it for a while and it suddenly came together. After free-handing the acorn silhouette, I cut it out and placed it on burlap. Now begins the fun needlepoint details. I can't wait to show you all the progress as I work on it. It has been a while since I have done needlepoint and I forgot that it is not quickly finished.

One of my favorite seasons is almost here. Even though it is still in the 70s here, it is a welcome break from the 80s and 90s that we have been experiencing. I look forward to it being in the 50s again and I can snuggle up in different layers.

I have been thinking more about how I wrap items when I ship them and decided that I would buy a few paper punches. Some of them can be quite pricey, but while I was looking at TJMaxx and Marshall's this week, I spotted some for $3.99 each. Can you believe it? Two punches I purchased are for packaging edges in the shape of trees and branches. One of the ones I purchased is this lovely bat silhouette, featured in the shots above. Even though it's Labor Day, I will still be laboring today for half of it. I will go in this afternoon to my day job and try to crank out some paperwork before coming home again. It was nice to have the morning off at least. What are all of you up to today?
